Since it began in 2000, the church has grown to more than 100,000 active attendees. Apparently, the church is still in that season of pruning since the growth hasn’t come. Robert Morris is the senior pastor of Gateway Church, a multicampus church based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Gateway called this a “pruning” in preparation for growth. I was first to report that Gateway Church planned to lay off as many as one-third of their staff and that the church was deep in debt.
